Where she’s been, where she’s going
Jessi Salzinski is a Los Angeles based composer, guitarist, and vocalist. She has written music for film, theater, and chamber ensembles. Her chamber music has been performed internationally and her film scores have been shown at festivals in Chicago and New York.
Her first foray into creating music came in grade school when she sat down one afternoon to tape record every sound she could think to make with her voice. She catalogued hundreds of vocalizations and is still trying to find these recordings so she can use them in a project today.
Shortly after she started playing guitar and writing songs, and continues writing American primitive finger style guitar pieces today. In high school, she wrote her first score for string orchestra. It was one of the highlights of her life.
She has performed at Lincoln Center twice: as part of Rhys Chatham’s A Crimson Grail and with Gamelan Galak Tika in Bang on a Can’s 25th Anniversary. In addition to writing music, she has performed in gamelans, choirs, and bands in Boston, Chicago, and New York.
She has a Masters of Music from New England Conservatory and a Bachelors of Music from New York University. Her primary teachers have included Kati Agosc, Justin dello Joio, and Jessica Pavone.
She’s looking forward to joining creative forces with you. Let’s make some cool art!
